Superintendent Message

Mr. Clayton

July 28, 2023

Dear WCPS families,

We’re less than two weeks away from the first day of school on August 9, 2023 and I always find the beginning of a new school to be an exciting and invigorating time of the year. The summer months are always an extremely busy time for our leaders as they work tirelessly to ensure a smooth opening day with our students. We are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to welcome 18,000+ new and returning students as they walk through our doors full of excitement and wonder for the upcoming academic year. Our teachers and staff have spent the summer growing professionally in preparation for the new school year and are ready to welcome back your child(ren) for a year full of learning and exciting opportunities!

As we begin the 2023-24 school year, we’re excited to welcome Mike Stevenson back to Warren Central High School (WCHS) as the interim principal. Mr. Stevenson is a veteran educator and administrator serving as former principal at Warren Central High School and Lost River Elementary, as well as leadership coach with the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative. We’re excited about the leadership and passion for students he’ll bring to the Dragon community as he builds upon the rich traditions well established in the Central community.

In case you may have missed it, the federal government recently announced “The Affordable Connectivity Program," a FCC benefit program designed to provide households with an affordable internet network for work, school, healthcare and more. This benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price. For more information on eligibility or to apply, please click here.

This truly is a great time of year as the anticipation builds and we work collaboratively to make Warren County Public Schools a great place for children to learn, teachers to teach, and staff to work. Please know we stand ready to work alongside you and we encourage you to reach out anytime we can be of assistance to you or your family. I hope you continue to experience a great summer and thank you for trusting us to educate your child(ren).

Respectfully,

Rob Clayton
