Happy New Year, Dragons!
Welcome to 2023, Dragon Family! It is hard to believe that the 22/23 school year is half over. I am so proud of the strides that our students continue to make and I know that this semester will be no different. It is a long and tough semester with state assessment sprinkled in, but with a strong home-school relationship, we can be successful!
Please be sure to ask your student about their grades and other school activities. This level of engagement will help us as much as it will help you and your student. Do not hesitate to reach out to teachers, the school, or me if you have any questions or concerns.
Prior to the break, we had 90 seniors pass the KYOTE Math test or Pre-Pac test to help them achieve Post-Secondary Readiness!
Congratulations to our Boys' Basketball Team as they won the prestigious King of the Bluegrass Tournament over the break!
When a student is caught demonstrating one of those characteristics, a staff member can give the student a SWAG Tag. On Fridays, students can turn them in to win prizes! Be sure to talk to your student about this and join in on the fun!
SWAG represents our School-Wide Expectations and stands for the following:
Showing Respect
Willingness to Lead
Actively Engaged
Generating School Spirit
As we start to see the temperature and seasons change, please review WCPS's INCLEMENT WEATHER PLAN.
Please remember to return a Healthy Kids Clinic registration form to the school for your student(s). You should complete one form per child. We would like to point out that even if you do give permission on the registration form for your child to be seen by the nurse practitioner, you will be contacted and informed of the visit prior to your child seeing the nurse practitioner. Also, if you choose for your student(s) not to receive services through this program, the school nurse will no longer be able to do an illness assessment on your child(ren), such as temperature checks. For those choosing not to receive services, the school nurse will be able to administer daily medications (with parent/guardian permission), give the student a bandaid, or give the student an ice pack; no other services can be provided. You can click here to access the registration form (you will need to print the form, complete it and return it to school).
