Warren Elementary serves approximately 622 preschool through 6th graders with English as a Second Language, Family Resource Center, Life Skills services, guidance-speech, Title I, Exceptional Student services, library, music, physical education, Chinese, writing resources, math/science resource, a full-time health aide, part-time parent facilitator, an elementary curriculum coordinator, and a district intervention teacher.
Our students represent many cultures and a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.
Approximately 60% of our students speak English as a Second Language, including Swahili, Somali, and Spanish.
To better serve ESL students, we have 5 certified ESL teacher, and 4 ESL teacher assistants. These help our students and their families learn English and make the adjustment to our country and our culture.
Gifted education and resource education programs are provided for our exceptional students at all levels. Teaching strategies that address various learning styles are used throughout the building.
Our school actively engages in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS is a decision making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students.
In addition, we are proud to be a "Leader in Me" School. We explicitly teach the 8 Habits of Success to all of our students and imbed these habits within our instruction, our procedures, and our expectations. These habits encourage our students to make good choices, become responsibile citizens of our school and community, and assist them in future success in their personal lives.
